I've never been a really big fan of the jeans with flashy back pockets, I don't mind them but prefer plain, but it seems like that is still increasing in popularity. I've noticed a few brands who previously stuck mostly to the "plain" pocket are starting to replace that with the flashy pocket designs.
I was surprised to see Bullhead jeans in women's have converted to this, they were one of my favorite plain pocket makes.
It is also becoming a factor within men's jeans too. There are a lot of makes that now do flashy pockets there as well. Pretty soon all jeans will come with a built-in LCD on the pockets displaying a strobing firework spectacular on everyone's behind.
Honestly, I look at this trend and I'm thinking in a few years time, people will look back like and think these jeans were sort of absurd. Again, it's not that I don't like them, I just don't care for all of them, especially the really overthetop designs.

Yes - I agree ! The Bling on the hind end of some of these jeans is going way beyond 'The Rhinestone Cowboy' of yesterday ! The next thing will be jeans with flashing LED lights if they have not been designed already !

Don't agree that you see more bling type pockets today.. At least where i stand and look.. With designer brands going bankrupt and major companies picking it up for pennies on the dollar designs and washes have bland look to them. Only Rock and Revival jeans have pocket button flaps with extra pocket on top of them.. Stitching such as white logos of designer brands have the goddy look to them like True Religion..
I see females either wear cheapo American Eagle jeans often or skinny J-brand with no disernable pocket logo or tell.. You have to be a jean freak such as me to notice J-brand pocket and stitching detail... Even noticed citizens of humanity got away from there distinctive designer logo on there pockets to almost nothing there but straight stitched line across.. Women look for understated pocket detail and wash like pacific ocean with COH bring or ink J-brand style washes... 7 for all mankind even doesn't flaunt there pocket detail logo in other colors then blending ot in with the denim wash, making it hard to tell the brand your wearing... Guess women are staying away from denim and making black leggings more trendy or usual... Seems to me either there wearing black tight jeggings or skinny jeans with no disernable pocket details..or black leggings with tan ugg boots, yuk...
Not long ago seen trendy teens with means Or rich housewives in rock and republic with crowns or distinct style colored pockets.. Now women are staying away from cheap discount brands such as those.. Looks as J-brand is setting the trend of complete blandless...
Woman want to look sophisticated but subtle today not appearing to flaunt there ass pockets with bling just want to coverup with contrasting colored long top or tunic for modity sake. Unless they wear black leggings not wanting anything to interfere what they are advertising in a short bra top.. Making dam sure there smooth curved bottom gets looked upon because they know how we guys love to see it jiggle..
Guess its a way women can look all the same wearing cheap black cotton leggings or cheap black bland tight jeans or designer J-brand black skinny's. Nobody will tell what financial means they come from or status you present to the world because everyone looks the same... Never thought women would dress like communists making everyone equal in just looking what your wearing... Suppose that is a reason designers are strugling selling there rags...

You gave examples of exceptions to the rule. 7 for all mankind popular styles are known for the trademark squiggle line across the pockets. Yes while the number 7 or A pocket designs have bling in them that is more the exception then the rule. I can agree young high school girls may opt for some bling pockets if they can afford them. Otherwise seeing mature females in anything other then subtle detailed pockets is more the norm. Washes of distressed jeans are sold on ebay females getting rid of extreme styles. Looks as if dark with subtle fading is the choice for many women today.. Sorry but it's only what i observe.. By the way i got the bling pockets as well, feel weird wearing them knowing it's not trendy.. item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=190744905860What about j-brand the most popular and worn denim i see females wear be it colorfull cotton skinny's or denim. www.jbrandjeans.com/811_MidRise_Skinny_Leg_in_Bliss/pd/cl/4891/np/101/p/2855.html
