Of course as we all know jeans sold here in the US are typically sized with single numbers, for example 0, 1, 3, 5, etc...
Is this a US thing only? I noticed when looking through foreign jeans available in the UK, or Germany for example, are sized as actual waist x inseam like men's jeans are in the US. This leads me to wonder if the US is the only market to use the single digit sizing chart. Does anyone know?

Quite a few US brands are sized by waist size. To name a few, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, Joe's Jeans, Rock & Republic, 7FAM, Citizens of Humanity, Paige Premium Denim, Hudson Jeans, True Religion, J Crew, J Brand, and Banana Republic are all sized by waist measurement.

I agree with the above brands during measurement in inches. What annoys me most is how they vary from one brand to another! A definite danger when ordering online.

If so yeah it's horribly annoying but it does give an excuse to try things on. On me, Diesel and Joe Jeans run true to size (TTS), but on the opposite end of the spectrum True Religions and Red Engine tend to run much bigger than the size shows. What's even more confusing is different cuts within the same brand name will be different! So even if you have a pair of 7FAM bootcut in 26 and they fit perfectly in the waist doesn't mean Dojo in 26 will fit the same. Maybe it's all a conspiracy to get you in the store and try them all so you'll buy more lol.

It could be, who knows? I like it though when a brand does stay consistent. Paige is a good example. I would happily order online but then inseams are inconsistent! And when you are a bit taller like me, that becomes an issue!
